CUSTOMER GUIDES
Received a defect notice? Start with the notice itself.
You do not need to interpret the defect code before asking for help. A clear copy of the complete notice gives us the best starting point.
Opens a ready-to-edit email with this explanation. Check it, add a personal note and forward it.
01
What helps us assess it
- The complete notice, including its reference, listed defects and due date.
- The property address and your name or referring business.
- Whether supply is currently connected, disconnected or uncertain.
- Any related correspondence and photos you already have.
- When you need a response and any known access restrictions.
02
Who should you contact?
For a notice relating to electrical installation work, Ausgrid directs customers to the original electrical contractor or ASP first. If they cannot be reached or cannot complete the repairs, contact an appropriately qualified provider. If you rent the property, forward the notice to the owner or property manager promptly.
03
Keep photos simple and safe
Use existing photos or take a wide view from a safe, accessible position only. Keep electrical covers closed. Do not climb, touch equipment or approach damaged poles, wires or switchboards to get a better photo. The notice alone is enough to start a conversation.
05
What happens next?
The notice and site conditions determine the assessment and rectification required. Sending an enquiry does not extend a defect deadline or confirm that the defect has been cleared.
